SUMMARY:NY/NJ Baykeeper Documentary Watch Party
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE AND REGISTER HERE! \nPlease join us on Wednesday\, December 16th from 7 to 8pm for a Watch Party followed by a Q&A with Baykeeper Staff\, to help us celebrate the premier of the “NY/NJ Baykeeper: Past\, Present and Future” short documentary. \nBaykeeper has been working hard for clean\, healthy\, accessible local waterways of the NY/NJ Harbor Estuary for over 30 years and has a long history of success. This has been possible only because so many of you have so generously supported this shared mission by volunteering your time and financial support. \nThe Watch Party will be our only fundraiser of 2020\, however registration to join the watch party and view the documentary is free to all. \nRegister for the watch party below! \nOur hosting capacity is limited\, so the first one hundred guest registrants are eligible for the Watch Party on December 16th. However\, the documentary and the recording of the Watch Party will be made available to everyone who registers\, including those who register after we reach capacity. \n**After signing up using the link above you will receive a confirmation email. Please click the Zoom link in the confirmation email and enter your name and email address on that page too! \nNY/NJ Baykeeper serves as a citizen advocate for the bays\, streams\, and shoreline communities of the NY-NJ Harbor Estuary. Our work includes clean water advocacy\, oyster restoration and research\, urban open space preservation\, monitoring our waters via boat patrols\, green infrastructure projects\, and suing polluters when necessary. \nYour donations support this work and are greatly appreciated! \n  \nTo donate by check or money order please send to: \nNY/NJ Baykeeper \n1222 Route 36 \nSuite #4 \nHazlet\, NJ 07730 \nWe thank you for your support!

SUMMARY:Petition for the Liberty State Protection Act
DESCRIPTION:This petition is to show support for the Act after 4 decades of grassroots privatization battles\, and opposition to Liberty National Golf Course’s owner\, billionaire Paul Fireman’s revived plan to destroy LSP’s\nCaven Point natural habitat by relocating golf holes for multi-millionaires. The billionaire’s misinformation campaign fails to mention Caven Point privatization or that the DEP does not require any more remediation of Caven Point (since 2000) due to its passive recreation uses. \nhttp://chng.it/c8sBXHGHKD

SUMMARY:The Oyster and the City: Historical Oyster and Downtown Waterfront Tour
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nJoin NY/NJ Baykeeper and Dr. Tim White for our inaugural Oyster Tour in New York City! \nStarting at Pier 16 on the East River\, this fascinating tour will chronicle the oyster history of NYC\, with emphasis on the downtown district and waterfront! On a walk down to the Staten Island Ferry terminal\, the tour will feature oyster history from the days of Native Americans\, the Dutch city\, and the Early Republic. With stops at Fraunces Tavern\, the site of Fort Amsterdam\, and views of Governors Island\, the tour will also weave together the histories of oyster beds\, the Hudson and East rivers\, and the restaurants and street peddlers of old New York. \nFinishing with a walk through Battery Park City up to Pier 25\, this tour will offer a story of the city and its oysters as they moved together through history. \nAbout Dr. Tim White\nDr. White earned his Ph.D. in Urban History at Columbia University\, and is an Associate Professor of History at New Jersey City University. He has been leading academic walking tours of Manhattan\, Brooklyn\, and Jersey City since the year 2000\, and regularly provides tours to third-party groups in return for donations to the NJCU Study Abroad Fund. \nDr. White wrote NJCU’s History of New York City course\, which is regularly taught in General Education. He has published a book with Penn Press\, Blue-Collar Broadway: the Craft and Industry of American Theater\, which chronicles the structural economic shift of Times Square from the 1890s to the 1990s. \nAll proceeds to go to NY/NJ Baykeeper and the New Jersey City University Study Abroad Fund! \n  \n \n\n
