Join NY/NJ Baykeeper for this special mid‑summer paddle on Saturday, July 11th the weekend commemorating the 110th anniversary of the 1916 Matawan Creek shark attack. These guided tours explore one of the most storied waterways in our region, blending history, ecology, and the striking shark mural that honors the events of 1916.

Paddle alongside Baykeeper staff as we navigate the tidal creek, learn about its wildlife and coastal legacy, and experience the site that inspired one of America’s most enduring environmental legends.

Here are a few important reminders for the event:

Date and Time: Saturday, July 11th, from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Please arrive by 11:45 am to ensure we have enough time to get everyone situated and on the water!

Location: We will be meeting at A Canoe to You, the red building by the Keyport Municipal Boat Ramp (near 1 Broad Street. Parking is available on site).

What to Bring: Don’t forget to bring water, a hat, and sunscreen for sun protection. We’ll provide all the necessary equipment, including life jackets, paddles, and kayaks. Waiver: If you haven’t already done so, please complete the online waiver before arriving. This will help streamline the check-in process and ensure we can start the tour on time.
