The NY-NJ Harbor Estuary, also known as the Hudson-Raritan Estuary, is a system of waterways and habitats that form one of the most intricate natural harbors in the world. Since 1989, NY/NJ Baykeeper has worked to protect, preserve and restore the environment of the most urban estuary on Earth.

Oyster Monitoring at Soundview Park

2022 Soundview Monitoring dates

Each monitoring session lasts approximately 3 hours. Bring some water, sun protection, a facemask (we may get within close contact as we monitor), and get ready to get wet and muddy with some oysters!
Each monitoring trip lasts approximately 3 hours. We will meet at the park entrance located at the corner of O’Brien Ave and Leland Ave, Soundview, Bronx NY 10473 (For GPS purposes, you can use the address of 311 Leland Ave, Bronx, NY 10473). For those of you taking public transportation, the Bx 27 or Bx 39 buses will put you within walking distance (the subway is a further walk). Bring with you water, sunscreen, a hat, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide everything else!
